WALMART CANADA – Reputation Multiplier
Walmart Canada and its 312 retail locations support local causes throughout the country with its Good Works program, contributing more than $384,000 to Canadian charities every week.
Walmart store managers have limited time for training and implementing new non-core programs. As such, constant time and mind-share demands make it easy for store management to forget about or postpone proactive media relations. With these challenges in mind, Walmart Canada approached Reputations to develop a program to help store managers attract positive media attention and recognition for its Good Works activities.
Reputations designed a media training program comprised of a group seminar, printed instructional materials and on–line resources.
To ensure the successful implementation of the program, Reputations conducts regular telephone coaching calls and makes itself available for on–demand telephone advice.
As of December 2008, Walmart store managers across Canada have garnered 3,194 media hits since the program launched in January 2006. This means Wal-Mart’s Good Works Program generates approximately 2.9 news hits per day.
Walmart Canada is now expanding the program to include district managers and sales driving releases.
